The progress of the USWA collection

It has been a couple of weeks since I have contributed to the blog, so I decided that today was a great time to give you an update about the progress of the new collection we are working on, which is the United Steel Workers of America (USWA). We have been going through this collection for about a week and a half. As of today, the preliminary sorting has been completed and everything is separated into its own series and sub-series. The photos below will give you an idea of what our work area looks like.

While making sure the preliminary inventory and the content of the folders and boxes matched, we came across some interesting information. On the front cover of a case file there was a post-it note with the words “DO NOT DISTURB.” The case was about a rock throwing incident so I’m not sure why the folder has this note, but I thought it was interesting and wanted to share it to you. You never know what you are going to find while working in an archive! I will keep you posted if we find any other unusual or interesting documents/notes.
